Media Release – 31 October 2016
The Board of Port Otago is pleased to confirm the appointment of Kevin Winders to the role of Chief Executive of Port Otago.
Mr Winders will join in February and will take over the mantle from current Chief Executive Geoff Plunket, who is retiring at end 2017.
He has been the Chief Operating Officer of Silver Fern Farms since 2011 with previous roles with PGG Wrightson, Contact Energy and KPMG.
Mr Winders brings a strong financial and strategic skill set and has a good understanding of shipping though his involvement with Kotahi, the joint venture between Fonterra Cooperative Group and Silver Fern Farms. “I am looking forward to the challenge of the new role and being part of the team to deliver the ‘Next Generation’ infrastructural programme,” he said.
Port Otago Chairman David Faulkner said the appointment had been the culmination of a three month recruitment process. “There were a number of very strong candidates and Kevin ticked all the boxes. We are delighted to have him on board.”
