Tour operators' information

The New Zealand Maritime Security Act 2004 and associated regulations require all those entering ports that service international shipping to work within set rules. Cruise ship access requirements for Port Otago facilities at Port Chalmers and Dunedin are outlined below. To be a recognised tour operator, email cruise@portotago.co.nz

2025 / 2026 Tour Operator Registration

Port Otago Enrolment Key 

  • To register as a tour operator your company must have a Port Otago Enrolment Key

  • If you already have your enrolment key from last season you register and log in using the same credentials.

  • Register for a link to our induction videos to be shared with all employees who will require access to Port sites for the 25/26 season.

  • Only one key is needed per company and the link received can be sent to as many employees as required.

  • If employees haven’t completed the inductions, they will not have any access to the Port under any circumstances.

Tour Operator Registration

  • Register for access to Port Otago sites as required to comply with the New Zealand Maritime Security Act 2004.

  • Ensures Port Otago know what business you will be conducting while on Port sites.

  • Ensures that you have the required insurances and certifications to operate on cruise days.

  • Read, understand and agree with the Port Otago and Tour Operator responsibilities under the joint operating plan.

  • Register drivers and guides to operate on Port Otago sites.

  • Advise Port Otago of tour bookings prior to cruise days.
