The Cruise booking policy provides guidelines and procedures for booking cruise ships. Port Otago’s cruise season falls between 1 October and 30 April. Booking windows are published up to three years in advance.

Cruise vessel tug policy

Tug requirements for cruise ships on arrival and departure

  • Cruise Ship <110m LOA: Nil Tug if operational bow thruster
  • Cruise Ship >110m LOA and <300m LOA: 1 Tug arrival and departure
  • Cruise Ship >300m LOA: 1 Tug arrival and departure. However, some classes of cruise vessel will require two tugs for arrival and departure.
  • Two tugs may be requested by Master and/or Pilot for all Cruise Ships due to weather or other circumstances, these will be invoiced to the vessel as per above.
    Port Otago has the right to add additional tugs for arrival or departure without approval by vessel.
