Emissions summary
Total emissions
Our total emissions were up 16% due to the inclusion – for the first time – of Well-to-tank (WTT) emissions. WTT emissions occur during fuel production, processing and transportation until they are ready for use. They also cover the entire upstream process, from extracting raw materials to delivering the fuel for use in vehicles or facilities. We have not previously reported on WTT emissions, thus the figure is differentiated by the lighter shade of maroon.
If WTT emissions were excluded and we were comparing like-for-like with last year’s total, our emissions would be down by 9%, due to reduced dredging activity and fewer shipping movements.
[CO2e stands for “carbon dioxide equivalent”. It is a single unit that accounts for all greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide.]
